Day 3 - 53 km

Woke up at 2.30 totally excited. All slept poorly except Mel who took a sleeping pill! The night sky was comforting to me, coming from the northern hemisphere as I do, the great Bear and Orion the right way up!

At Chusul we met the Yarling Sangpo which turns into the great Brahmaputra River. The Brahmaputra is one of three  holy rivers that all emerge from Mount Kailash including the Sutlej and the Indus.

As we ride up the river the scenery is getting grander and more serene. We couldn't see Carol for dust one one stretch! We thought it was the second helping of noodle soup she had for lunch. The furthest she had ridden before today was 36km so 53km is a marvellous distance.

I am writing this blog by a small stream next to a sand quarry for the mammoth railway extension to Xigatze. It is quiet now it is dark as the trucks stop for the night.
